5 Easy Summer Skin Care Tips!

28th Jan 2014

Summertime means beaches, barbeques, road trips and pool parties but all that fun in the sun can take a toll on your skin. Here are five tips to help face the sun rays and keep your skin fresh and radiant all summer long!

1. Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen!

We can’t emphasize enough how important it is to apply and re-apply sunscreen. The American Cancer Society estimates that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer, but you can prevent it by avoiding tanning, wearing protective clothing and using a sunscreen of SPF30 or above. We recommend applying a teaspoon on your face and 1 oz (about the size of a shot glass) on your body, and reapply every two hours.

Recommended: Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF50+, Ultra Lite SPF55, Oil Free Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF30

2. Exfoliate For Fresh And Fabulous Skin!

The heat and humidity of summer can cause excessive sweating, clogging pores and leaving your skin looking and feeling oily. Help prevent congestion and improve hydration from your toners and moisturizers by exofilating two or three times a week (It will also make your makeup last longer!) Then use a sulfur mask to clean and tighten pores while absorbing excess oil.

3. Keep Your Skin Hydrated!

Soaring temperatures and increased time spent in the sun can cause dehydration, so it is important to keep your skin hydrated. We recommend using a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer in the summer that nourishes and keeps your skin soft and smooth. Drink 8-12 glasses of water a day and avoids caffeinated beverages when you can to help clean your system and hydrate your skin.

Recommended: Light Textured Moisturizer, Hydrating Booster, Oil Free Moisturizer

4. Go Hat Shopping!

You often see celebrities wearing fashionable, floppy sun hats, and so can you! Not only will you look fabulous with this must-have summer accessory, but you’ll keep cool and be protected from harmful UV Rays which can cause early aging, irritation and skin cancer.

5. Give Yourself A Self-Tan!

There’s no need to risk your health to give your skin a sun-kissed glow. Get the perfect all-over color from a self-tanner and skip the dangerous tanning booths and UV Rays. We recommend using a self-tanning mousse and applying with an applicator mitt for smooth and even results.
